Ingredients

  • 1 bag thick tortilla chips
  • 1 lb ground beef (85–90% lean)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup jalapeños (optional)
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Turkey beef (optional)
  • Salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned. Drain.
  3. Add chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add water and simmer.
  4. Spread half the chips on a sheet pan.
  5. Add half the beef and half the cheese.
  6. Layer the remaining chips, beef, and cheese.
  7. Bake until cheese melts and chips stay crisp.
  8. Add fresh toppings: tomatoes, green onions, avocado, turkey beef, jalapeños.
  9. Serve warm with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.
