Creamy boat dip recipe topped with diced tomatoes and green onions, served with tortilla chips

Boat Dip Recipe

  • Author: Thomas G
  • Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup sour cream.

8 oz softened cream cheese.

1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese.

1 packet taco seasoning – for bold, Tex-Mex flavor

1/2 cup diced tomatoes or Rotel (optional)

Chopped green onions or jalapeños (optional)

Instructions

Mix the Base: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sour cream and softened cream cheese until smooth.

Add the Flavors: Stir in the taco seasoning until fully blended.

Fold in the Goodies: Add the shredded cheese and any optional diced tomatoes or Rotel. Mix until creamy.

Chill (Optional but Recommended): For the best flavor, refrigerate for 30–60 minutes to let the ingredients meld together.

Serve and Enjoy: Garnish with green onions or jalapeños and serve with tortilla chips, pretzels, crackers, or fresh veggies.

Notes

Drain watery ingredients like tomatoes to keep the dip thick and scoopable.

Use full-fat dairy for the creamiest, richest result.

Make ahead for parties—the flavors improve after a night in the fridge.

Optional twist: Add ranch seasoning, or jalapeños for variations like crack dip or spicy boat dip.
