  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

Fluffy, buttery buttermilk biscuits perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (more if needed)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon sugar (for a slightly sweet flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the cubed butter to the flour mixture and work into coarse crumbs.
  4. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk, stirring until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a rectangle 3/4-inch thick.
  6. Fold the dough over itself a couple of times for flakiness.
  7. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out your biscuits without twisting.
  8. Place the biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet close together.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter.

Notes

Use cold butter for the best flakiness and avoid overmixing the dough.
