  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 3 cups seafood or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Lemon wedges, optional

Instructions

  1. Sauté Aromatics: In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, celery, and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant.
  2. Build the Base: Stir in tomato paste, paprika, and cayenne. Cook 1–2 minutes to develop flavors.
  3. Add Broth: Pour in the seafood or vegetable broth. Bring to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Add Seafood: Gently add shrimp and crab meat. Simmer until shrimp turn opaque, about 3–5 minutes.
  5. Add Cream: Stir in heavy cream. Warm gently, avoiding boiling, until bisque is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve: Ladle into warm bowls. Garnish with chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon, if desired. Serve with crusty bread or garlic breadsticks.
