- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp paprika
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 3 cups seafood or vegetable broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
- Lemon wedges, optional
Instructions
- Sauté Aromatics: In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, celery, and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant.
- Build the Base: Stir in tomato paste, paprika, and cayenne. Cook 1–2 minutes to develop flavors.
- Add Broth: Pour in the seafood or vegetable broth. Bring to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add Seafood: Gently add shrimp and crab meat. Simmer until shrimp turn opaque, about 3–5 minutes.
- Add Cream: Stir in heavy cream. Warm gently, avoiding boiling, until bisque is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve: Ladle into warm bowls. Garnish with chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon, if desired. Serve with crusty bread or garlic breadsticks.
