Description

A comforting, cheesy lasagna with layers of tender pasta, rich meat sauce, and gooey mozzarella. Perfect for family dinners or cozy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular, cooked al dente)
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey sausage
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 24 ounces tomato sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 15 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning (or mix of basil, oregano, thyme)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce and meat layer: Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil, then cook meat until browned. Add tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10–15 minutes.
  2. Assemble the lasagna layers: Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish. Layer noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Repeat until ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  3. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 20–25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
