- 6 slices of white or whole wheat bread, crusts removed
- 1 cup of cream cheese, softened
- 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon of fresh dill or chives, chopped (optional)
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional additions: Smoked salmon, turkey slices, or avocado
Instructions
- Start by laying out your slices of bread on a clean cutting board.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Take about two tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture and spread it evenly across each slice of flattened bread.
- Layer slices of cucumber on top of the cream cheese.
- Carefully roll up each slice of bread, starting from one edge and rolling to the other side.
- After rolling, slice each log into bite-sized pieces.
Notes
For a lighter version, use low-fat cream cheese. To make it vegetarian or vegan, substitute with a plant-based alternative.
