Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey/chicken)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Meat and Vegetables: Heat olive oil in skillet, cook onions, carrots, garlic, then add ground beef until browned. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, broth, peas, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes.
  2. Make Mashed Potato Topping: Mash potatoes with butter and milk until creamy. Optionally mix in cheddar cheese.
  3. Assemble and Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F. Layer meat mixture in baking dish, top with mashed potatoes. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden. Rest 5 minutes before serving.
