Description

Healthy frozen treats that taste like your favorite candy bar with creamy bananas, peanut butter, and dark chocolate coating

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Peel bananas and slice into 1-inch rounds. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2. Arrange half of the banana slices on the prepared sheet. Spread 1 teaspoon peanut butter on each slice.
  3. 3. Top with remaining banana slices to create sandwiches. Press gently to secure.
  4. 4. Freeze the banana sandwiches for at least 2 hours until completely frozen solid.
  5. 5. Combine chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy.
  6. 6. Remove frozen banana pieces from freezer. Working quickly, dip each piece into melted chocolate using a fork.
  7. 7. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into bowl, then place on parchment-lined sheet.
  8. 8. Immediately sprinkle with chopped peanuts and a pinch of sea salt before chocolate sets.
  9. 9. Return to freezer for 30 minutes until chocolate is completely hardened.
  10. 10. Transfer to an airtight container with parchment paper between layers. Store in freezer for up to 3 months.

Notes

Allow treats to sit at room temperature for 2-3 minutes before eating for best texture. Store in airtight container with parchment paper between layers. Can substitute almond butter or sunflower seed butter for peanut allergies.
