Description
A quick and comforting Italian pasta dish with garlic and olive oil, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces of spaghetti or your pasta of choice
- 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 4 to 6 cloves of garlic, finely sliced or minced
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup of fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
- Lemon zest (optional, for a zesty twist)
Instructions
- Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. While waiting for the water to reach a rolling boil, you can multitask by finely chopping your garlic and parsley.
- Once the water is boiling, add your spaghetti to the pot. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
- As the pasta cooks, heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once warm, toss in the garlic slices.
- Allow the garlic to sizzle for about 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- After your garlic has reached that toasty stage, add the red pepper flakes.
- Drain the pasta, reserving about half a cup of pasta water. Add the drained pasta into the skillet with the garlic and oil, tossing everything together.
- Season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper, stirring well. Fold in the chopped parsley.
- To serve, transfer the pasta into your bowl, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese or lemon zest if desired, and enjoy!
