  • Author: angie
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and comforting Italian pasta dish with garlic and olive oil, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces of spaghetti or your pasta of choice
  • 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 to 6 cloves of garlic, finely sliced or minced
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup of fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
  • Lemon zest (optional, for a zesty twist)

Instructions

  1. Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. While waiting for the water to reach a rolling boil, you can multitask by finely chopping your garlic and parsley.
  2. Once the water is boiling, add your spaghetti to the pot. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
  3. As the pasta cooks, heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once warm, toss in the garlic slices.
  4. Allow the garlic to sizzle for about 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. After your garlic has reached that toasty stage, add the red pepper flakes.
  6. Drain the pasta, reserving about half a cup of pasta water. Add the drained pasta into the skillet with the garlic and oil, tossing everything together.
  7. Season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper, stirring well. Fold in the chopped parsley.
  8. To serve, transfer the pasta into your bowl, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese or lemon zest if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

Customize the dish with gluten-free pasta or skip Parmesan for a vegan version.
