  • Author: Angie
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 36 servings 1x

Description

Spicy, cheesy sausage balls loaded with fresh jalapenos and pepper jack cheese – the perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer for any gathering or party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound breakfast pork sausage
  • 2 cups pepper jack cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups baking mix (like Bisquick)
  • 2 medium fresh jalapenos, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the breakfast sausage, shredded pepper jack cheese, baking mix, diced jalapenos, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  3. 3. Mix all ingredients together using your hands until well combined and evenly distributed throughout, being careful not to overmix.
  4. 4. Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the mixture and roll into 1-inch balls.
  5. 5. Place the sausage balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. 6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through with no pink remaining in the center.
  7. 7. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  8. 8. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch dressing or honey mustard.

Notes

Store leftover sausage balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 10-12 minutes. Unbaked sausage balls can be frozen for up to 3 months; bake directly from frozen, adding 5 extra minutes to cooking time. For milder heat, reduce jalapenos or use regular Monterey Jack cheese.
