Simple Lemon Balm Tea

  • Author: Thomas G
  • Total Time: 12 minutes
  • Yield: 12 cups 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh lemon balm leaves (or 1 tablespoon dried)

  • 2 cups boiling water

  • 1 teaspoon raw honey (optional)

  • 1 slice of lemon or a sprig of mint (optional)

Instructions

  • Rinse & Prep: Wash fresh lemon balm leaves and pat dry.

  • Bruise the Leaves: Gently crush leaves to release natural oils.

  • Steep: Place leaves in a teapot or mug, pour boiling water over them, cover, and steep for 5–7 minutes.

  • Strain & Serve: Remove leaves, stir in honey if desired, and add lemon slice or mint sprig.

  • Optional: Serve hot, or chill and pour over ice for a refreshing iced tea variation.

Notes

Fresh leaves provide a bright, citrusy flavor; dried leaves offer a deeper taste.

Drinking 1–3 cups per day is generally safe for adults.

Avoid extremely hot water to preserve delicate flavor.
