Description

A creamy, cheesy, and crunchy casserole with green beans, turkey bacon, and fried onions, perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (optional)
  • 4 slices cooked turkey bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Steam or boil green beans until tender.
  2. Prepare cheese sauce: melt butter, sauté onions and garlic, stir in flour, then slowly whisk in milk and broth. Add cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese until smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Combine green beans with sauce, add crumbled turkey bacon, transfer to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, top with fried onions, and bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes. Let cool slightly before serving.

Tips:

  • Top with fried onions at the end for extra crunch
