A creamy, cheesy, and crunchy casserole with green beans, turkey bacon, and fried onions, perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.

- 1.5 lbs fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (optional)
- 4 slices cooked turkey bacon, crumbled
- 1 cup fried onions
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Steam or boil green beans until tender.
- Prepare cheese sauce: melt butter, sauté onions and garlic, stir in flour, then slowly whisk in milk and broth. Add cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese until smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Combine green beans with sauce, add crumbled turkey bacon, transfer to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, top with fried onions, and bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes. Let cool slightly before serving.

- Top with fried onions at the end for extra crunch

- frozen green beans work fine if thawed and drained.
