- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda

- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for glaze)
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
- Pinch of salt (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the bars are baking, prepare the glaze by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat until brown.
- Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla bean paste, and salt. Adjust consistency with milk if necessary.
- Once the bars are baked and slightly cooled, pour the glaze over the top and let it set before cutting.
