- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour (pie crust)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (for custard)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp salt
- Optional: ¼ tsp nutmeg or cinnamon
- Optional: Whipped cream or fresh berries for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare pie crust by mixing flour and salt, cutting in butter, adding water, rolling dough into pie pan, and blind-baking 10 minutes.
- Whisk eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Warm milk over medium heat, temper eggs with milk, then cook gently until slightly thickened. Pour custard into crust.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes until custard is just set. Cool completely, refrigerate for 2 hours, then serve with optional toppings.
Notes
- Store in the fridge for 3–4 days.
