Description
A refreshing homemade summer beverage combining sweet ripe peaches with tangy fresh lemon juice for the perfect balance of fruity flavors
Ingredients
- Fresh ripe peaches – 4 medium-sized
- Fresh lemons – 6 large
- Granulated sugar – 1 cup
- Water – 6 cups
- Ice cubes – As needed
- Fresh mint leaves – Optional, for garnish
- Peach slices – Optional, for garnish
Instructions
- 1. Wash and cut 4 medium peaches into chunks, removing the pits. Blend until completely smooth to create a peach puree, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve.
- 2. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water over medium heat. Stir continuously until sugar dissolves completely, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
- 3. Squeeze 6 large lemons to extract about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice, straining out any seeds.
- 4. In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, peach puree, and remaining 5 cups of cold water. Stir thoroughly to mix all ingredients.
- 5. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld.
- 6. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with fresh peach slices and mint leaves if desired.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For best flavor, consume within 2-3 days. Can be frozen for up to 3 months. For a sparkling version, replace half the water with club soda just before serving.
