- 4 slices bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Optional toppings: ¼ cup mushrooms, ¼ cup bell peppers, ¼ cup turkey pepperoni
Instructions
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Place one slice butter-side down on a skillet. Layer ½ cup mozzarella, ¼ cup tomato sauce, and optional toppings. Top with second slice, butter-side up.
- Cook over medium heat 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted. Press gently with spatula.
- Remove from skillet, let cool 1 minute, slice diagonally, and serve warm.
Notes
- Assemble ahead but cook just before serving for best results.
- Add fresh basil or oregano for extra flavor.
