Description
A comforting and unique dish that combines all the beloved flavors of spaghetti in a creative pie presentation, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef (or chicken/turkey)
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (plus more for topping)
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the spaghetti and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in garlic and ground beef, cooking until browned.
- Drain any excess fat if necessary, add marinara sauce, and bring to a simmer for about 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Combine cooked spaghetti, ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, eggs, and Italian seasoning in a large bowl until thoroughly mixed.
- Grease a 9-inch pie dish with cooking spray. Pour half of the spaghetti mixture, layer with meat sauce, then add remaining spaghetti mixture. Top with additional mozzarella.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is bubbly and golden brown. Let sit before slicing.
Notes
For vegetarian versions, substitute ground beef with lentils or mushrooms. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
