A tangy, slightly sweet, and gently spicy homemade mustard perfect for sandwiches, pretzels, sausages, and more. Easy to make with pantry staples and bursting with Mardi Gras flavor.

- ½ cup yellow mustard seeds
- ½ cup brown mustard seeds
- ¾ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup honey or brown sugar
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ cup water (adjust as needed)
Instructions
- Combine mustard seeds and soak in water and vinegar for 12–24 hours.
- Mix spices and sweetener in a saucepan with the soaked seeds.
- Cook over medium-low heat for 5–10 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Blend to desired texture, adding water or vinegar if needed.
- Transfer to a jar, refrigerate at least 24 hours for best flavor.
