Description
A comforting, family-friendly turkey lasagna with layers of lean ground turkey, creamy ricotta, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. Easy to make, perfect for dinner, and ideal for meal prep.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 9–12 lasagna noodles
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups tomato sauce
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 egg
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and cook noodles: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the turkey filling: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic until soft and fragrant. Add ground turkey, season with salt and pepper, and cook until no longer pink. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer for 5–10 minutes to let flavors meld.
- Mix the cheese layer: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan. This mixture will stay creamy and help bind the lasagna layers together.
- Assemble the lasagna: Spread a thin layer of turkey sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish. Layer noodles, turkey sauce, ricotta mixture, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella and remaining Parmesan on top.
- Bake: Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Rest before serving: Let the lasagna sit for 10 minutes before cutting. This allows the layers to set, making it easier to serve neat slices.
