Description
A crispy, spicy, and creamy shrimp dish inspired by the popular seafood restaurant’s classic. Perfect for impressing family and friends.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust for heat preference)
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional for sweetness)
Instructions
- Combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix it well and set aside.
- Pour the buttermilk into another bowl. Dip each shrimp into this mixture, letting any excess drip off.
- Toss the shrimp into the dry mixture, coating them evenly.
- Heat about an inch of oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Whip together the Bang Bang sauce in a bowl by mixing the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey until smooth.
- Remove the shrimp from the oil and drain on a paper towel. Toss in the Bang Bang sauce and serve immediately.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend and panko. Consider baking instead of frying for a healthier option.
