  • Author: angie
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A crispy, spicy, and creamy shrimp dish inspired by the popular seafood restaurant’s classic. Perfect for impressing family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust for heat preference)
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional for sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix it well and set aside.
  2. Pour the buttermilk into another bowl. Dip each shrimp into this mixture, letting any excess drip off.
  3. Toss the shrimp into the dry mixture, coating them evenly.
  4. Heat about an inch of oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Whip together the Bang Bang sauce in a bowl by mixing the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey until smooth.
  6. Remove the shrimp from the oil and drain on a paper towel. Toss in the Bang Bang sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend and panko. Consider baking instead of frying for a healthier option.
