Description

A rich and gooey chocolate pecan cake that combines the flavors of chocolate, pecans, and cream cheese for a delightful dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (16 oz.) box powdered sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup pecans, roughly chopped
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the chocolate cake mix, egg, and melted butter in a mixing bowl. Mix until smooth and press into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Beat the softened cream cheese until creamy in another bowl. Add in the eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder until smooth.
  5. Fold in the chopped pecans and pour the filling over the crust.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
  7. Cool for 15 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
  8. Cut into squares and serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use vegan butter and dairy-free cream cheese. A gluten-free chocolate cake mix can be used for a gluten-free version.
