A rich and gooey chocolate pecan cake that combines the flavors of chocolate, pecans, and cream cheese for a delightful dessert.

- 1 box of chocolate cake mix
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (16 oz.) box powdered sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup pecans, roughly chopped
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the chocolate cake mix, egg, and melted butter in a mixing bowl. Mix until smooth and press into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Beat the softened cream cheese until creamy in another bowl. Add in the eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder until smooth.
- Fold in the chopped pecans and pour the filling over the crust.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
- Cool for 15 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
- Cut into squares and serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, use vegan butter and dairy-free cream cheese. A gluten-free chocolate cake mix can be used for a gluten-free version.
