Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 ounce)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (panko works best for a crunch)
- 1 large egg
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herbs (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or minced garlic (optional)
- 1/4 cup diced onions or shallots (optional)
- Burger buns (whole wheat or gluten-free if desired)
- Lettuce, tomato, avocado, and red onion for toppings
- Extra ranch dressing for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium heat, oiling the grates or skillet lightly.
- Combine the ground chicken, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning mix, breadcrumbs, and the egg in a large mixing bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste and mix gently.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a small indentation in the center of each one.
- Cook the patties on the preheated grill or skillet for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Add a slice of cheddar on top during the last minute of cooking, covering to let it melt.
- Let the patties rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For healthier alternatives, consider lettuce wraps instead of buns or substituting ground chicken with black beans for a vegetarian option.
