A hearty and nutritious cabbage burger bake that combines comfort food with healthy ingredients.

- 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped
- 1 pound of ground beef, turkey, or a plant-based alternative
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (or a vegan version)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or vegan cheese)
- Optional toppings: green onions, sour cream, or salsa
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Stir in the ground meat (or alternative) and cook until it’s browned, breaking it up as you go, about 7-10 minutes.
- Mix in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and paprika until well combined.
- Layer half of the chopped cabbage at the bottom of a large baking dish.
- Pour the meat mixture over the cabbage and spread it evenly. Top with the remaining cabbage.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
