Description

A delightful Peach Upside-Down Cake featuring caramelized peaches on a buttery cake, perfect for impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 medium ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • Chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter.
  2. Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir in the brown sugar until dissolved. Pour into the prepared pan, spreading evenly.
  3. Arrange the peach slices over the sugar mixture in the pan.
  4. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  6. Mix in the vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, stirring just until combined.
  7. Pour the batter over the arranged peaches in the cake pan, spreading evenly.
  8. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate.

Notes

Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce for extra indulgence. Pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
