- 4–5 medium ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- Chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter.
- Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir in the brown sugar until dissolved. Pour into the prepared pan, spreading evenly.
- Arrange the peach slices over the sugar mixture in the pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in the vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, stirring just until combined.
- Pour the batter over the arranged peaches in the cake pan, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate.
Notes
Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce for extra indulgence. Pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
