  • Author: angie
  • Total Time: 495 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Description

Tender pulled beef combined with spices and sauces, served on soft sandwich rolls.

Ingredients

  • Beef: 3-4 pounds of chuck roast or brisket
  • Onion: 1 large, chopped
  • Garlic: 3-4 cloves, minced
  • Beef broth: 1 cup
  • BBQ sauce: 1-1.5 cups
  • Brown sugar: 2 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Apple cider vinegar: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt & pepper: To taste
  • Sandwich rolls or buns: 8
  • Optional spices: Smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, or chili powder
  • Optional toppings: Coleslaw, pickles, or cheese

Instructions

  1. Sear your beef. Heat a little oil in your pot on medium-high. Season the beef with salt and pepper. Sear all sides until browned (about 4-5 minutes per side).
  2. Remove the beef and set it aside. In the same pot, toss in the chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Mix together the beef broth, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar, and pour it over the meat.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  6. Remove the beef from the pot and shred using two forks until it resembles fluffy strands.
  7. Mix the shredded beef back into the sauce.
  8. Serve the pulled beef on sandwich rolls. For an extra touch, toast the buns lightly before assembling.

Notes

You can use chicken thighs for a lighter option or gluten-free buns for dietary needs.
